Happy B'day Josh - sounds like it turned out alright after all. And the new orchids will help take the sting out of the accident.
I think a post like this draws everyone back to their own DISASTER; if you have owned orchids, you have had them. But, ohhhh they make up for it don't they!
Enjoy your shelf and GL with the disturbed ones.
Steve

accidents don't just happen.... they are waiting for you to notice them .

All my orchids was on the ground tuesday after a cold front blew in with 30 mph winds. Broke a lot of leaves off. I stopped lookin and just picked them up. Orchids dont like that nor the 40 degree chill. I got them all in the garage now in the floor. I moved the car outside my new place and filled my garage with orchids. I hope I dont forget and run em over. Heck I might even remember and run em over anyway

Josh you'll like the metal shelving if it's anything like mine. It's heavy, sturdy and not going anywhere. It will hold a surprising number of orchids and you can easily attach lighting to the bottoms of the shelves.

Yea, I think it'll be nice to have more shelving for more plants in general!

Well, I had one more casualty to the list.

My Paph. purpuratum lost its two largest fans. It was a 3 fan BS plant and I had hoped I would see a bloom this year but apparently it got injured in the fall. The two fans started to get limp and then I noticed some blackening where they connected to the base. After two days they started to loose their color. I cut them off last night and I have one decent sized fan left now. Quite sad as this was likely the first paph to bloom for me.
