What does the Orchid Board mean to you?

I too wonder about why people no longer come here. How ever I take periods of absents at times. The forum had gotten so bad I was getting tired of it taking so long to respond. I do believe that some people quit because of that. I think Tucker was one of those. I miss his Cattleya's.

It seems to finally be working good again.

My turn now... I used to get good info at the National Association forum from my country. This was good because I was dealing with very experienced growers that lived more or less under my environmental conditions (climate and such).
That's when it happened...they moved it to facebook.
Tragedy...I don't want to be a part of such gossip sharing site so I begun immediately searching for alternatives. OB seemd the best, not only because of theexperienced member but also because the answers to my questions were posted fast. It was granted that, at least two or three answers were posted by the end of the day.
Along the way I also found how friendly the site and people are which is a plus.

I did awhile back. he said he was birding a lot. I can understand since his photography is so amazing!

I come to this forum because of the wealth of knowledge as well as being able to see all of the beautiful plants that others are able to grow! I too have periods of absence but do come back. Hopefully the site continues to function well and we can keep enjoying our fantastic hobby!

I can't imagine anyone quitting orchids... But it's so good reading through all this to see the friendships that people have developed and are still developing. I don't do Facebook because I think it's creepy on so many levels, and those on this board do identify with my passion of growing orchids . My gratitude for this board is endless....

I think if everyone who wants a good board will actively participate, it will work. If you don't have anything to say about your own orchids on a particular day, help others with their questions and admire their pix. Or just write something interesting in the off topic cafe.

If you invite someone over to your house, you spend a few minutes sprucing it up, maybe vac a little, make sure there is a new roll of tp, put the dishes in the dishwasher, make the place look appealling.
So if you want some of the people who used to be here to come back, invite them but at the same time put up a few new pictured and so on.
