I'm thinking same thing, Tindo. Here's one I photo'd in a controlled environment (ID'd, etc.)

They do smell bad if you get them to bloom. Almost as bad as some Bulbos

Thanks! I can't find Stapeloides, only Stapelia. New nomenclature perhaps?

Not sure. I Id'd my photo same as your first ID. Rob has his spelled differently, but perhaps same plant? Anyways, I agree with you're first assessment. And it still smells like rotten meat!

I'm going ffrom memory on stapeloides. Could quite well be stapelia. I don't actually own any, but a local grower used to have tons of something that looked just like that under her benches. I don't recall it smelling, though. Perhaps that was a better clone or a related species.

oh are you going to get it common name Carrion Flower Detailed information on Carrion Plant, Carrion Flower, Starfish Plant, Toad Plant, Zulu Giant Stapelia gigantea
Flies love it , even without the real ones it has a fake in the center to draw in the real ones . I had one in my other greenhouse tore the place up thinking there was a dead mouse till I noticed the bloom .Yours is probably the Stapelia gigantea . Then again maybe not I have a Stap. in bloom now it does not smell . Gin
