Talking My collection

Hello OB!

It has been a while, hasn't it? I stop by now and then, but I'm not as active as I was before and the reasons are health related (I'm home on extended sick leave at the moment).

My addiction to orchids has not diminished though, rather it's still as bad as ever, so my collection has grown quite a bit, especially the Paph part of it, since I was more active here on OB.

I started out with eight NoID Phals in February this year and this is how the collection looks now:

Paph. helenae
Paph. lowii
Paph. schoseri
Paph. Vinicolor 'Black Jack' (cross unknown)

Phrag. Green Hornet (longfolium x pearcei)

With these last ones, my upper limit is breached so I'll have to sell off parts of my collection this coming spring. This gives me the winter to ponder which ones to sell (although I wish I could keep them all ).

Now it's time for me to give them some TLC.

OMG!!!! Your collection is HUGE!!!! Instead of selling them off, why don't you turn some unused closet into a growing space? It'll make a LOT more room!

Have you got a pic of your Phal. violacea (Rachels blue Eyes x Gulfstream blue x sib)? Did it come from Elsner? If so I've been very tempted to get one, but right now the order choices don't work out if you know what I mean. I guess I'll be waiting for spring anyway now and hoping she's still got them. Would be interesting to see what they are like though.

I know! Somehow, it has mysteriously increased behind my back (I believe it must be either my cats sneaking in more chids, or it's some strange chid-ninja character, that's putting more plants into my collection when I'm looking the other way).

The space isn't really an issue (although it's getting a bit crowded), it's more a health thing. I can't really deal with more plants than say 70-90, any more than that and the quality of my care taking plummets.

Yup, I serve as a warning to all of you out there. Do NOT underestimate the power of the chid, people!

No, but I can fix one, and, yup, it came from Elsner.

Um... I'm not sure I know what you mean, but hopefully she'll still have plants left of this cross in the spring.

Re order not working out... basically lack of money. And not enough things I couldn't get cheaper elsewhere to justify the order cost! And now it's getting cold and I'm off to the BOC congress in a few weeks so saving my money to buy stupid numbers of plants there! LOL Would still love to see a photo: I'm wondering how big they are, since she has some other Norton (unamed cross) plants that are much more expensive which seems strange.

Well, after a doctor's appointment today I finally got my diagnosis, burnout with depression. So there's no wonder I'm so darned tired and listless all the time.

Now, with the right diagnosis under my belt, it'll hopefully get easier to get the appropriate help so I can recover and return to my obnoxious self again.

Don't worry too much. It would be nice to see a photo, but it's not important.
