Acrylic. I guess that means Plexi Glass? It's 1/4" and custom designed. I have an article on its construction posted.

Ross my man, That tank looks sweet!!
This is just me, but I personally like the look of mounted greens rather then potted greens, more natural lookin' I think.

I suppose this is a stupid question, but, what is that cage like thing to the left in the center?
I just started with bulbos so I ask a lot of stupid (to a experienced grower) qfuestions.

That's the mount for one of my Encyclia tampensis. The plant is mounted on a slab of Southern Liveoak bark which is tied to that egg crate frame to stiffen the bark. In the photo you are looking at backside 'cause the 'chids like to face to window and sun. Does that explain it? The other wire grid on right is my idea for stretching out the space. It hold a lot of minis on mounts.

Thanks Ross. I am just starting with bulbos and have a lot to learn. Your photo looked like a cage, and I wondered what you filled it with. I have lots and lots of questions.
I have tried to mount a couple of them but my problem is I grow in my home, on carpet. I can't find a good place to hang them. I have a couple hanging how but I have to take them down to water them to keep from dripping on the plants below. I can't just spray them. I will figure something out, I MUST.
Another Michigan grower. (Grand Rapids area)

Couple thoughts come to mind (I get lots of ideas I seldom follow through on, however ) The 1/2" welded wire fabric comes from Home Depot. You can find small rolls 24" wide. You can also find decorative plant hangers in lots of garden shops and like Michaels. You could make a flat strip of the wire, paint it to match the plant stand and attach to the stand in front of a window. Make it secure and solid. Then get a drip tray, like for boots, that would sit on carpet under the wire attachment. Once you cover that with minis, mounted on sticks and cedar wood slabs, you'd hardly see the wire. Now how to water...
Got it! Get a 5 gallon empty pail from Home Depot. Drag it over by orchids then hold them over the pail to catch the water while you spray them heavy (so as to soak the whole mount). How does that sound?
