They Called It What???
Default They Called It What???

Just thought I'd start a thread for orchids with strange and silly names...

Phal Yaphon Ugly Person

Paph Addicted Philip (Paph. philippinense x adductum)

I've also been thinking of getting myself a Doritaenopsis (Jim x Phalaenopsis Golden Peoker) "Black Bird". Strange they give a clone name but not a grex. Maybe it's easier than calling it by it's correct name of Doritaenopsis Frog Hollow Black Cherry Sundae "Black Bird". I'll need bigger tags!

Lol! Vanda Manuel Torres. I have no idea if it was names after the same Manuel Torres but I had a funny experience. I've been long ignoring the little notes google sends me to modify my search settings (so they were always set on none) so I don't restrict any of my searches. So one day after seeing an eBay ad for this plant, I looked it up but didn't stick the vanda part so then up comes all these explicit photos of a gay porn star..... I was like "WTF?!" and changed the settings. never again lmao

Thought I'd look up offspring of Paph adductum. They include Deladu, Lion Weltz, Predacious and Cloud's Abducted Fairy. (In case you haven't guessed, that's adductum x fairrieanum...). Also Addicted Ben, Addicted Susan, Addicted Booth, Constant Addiction, Cloud's Abducted Mockingbird (being held with the Fairy presumably), Cloud's Spice Addict and Dick's Delight. Hsinying Lady Duck, Low Hum (hmmm...), Mar New, Monsoon Temptation, Sander's Duck (why the ducks?), Slow Dance, Spotted Howl, Stone Addict, and Super Addiction.

fairrieanum: Chunky Fairy, Fair Beam, Fair Bull, Fair Dinkum, Fair Dot, Fair Fred, Fair Student, Fairly Sauced, Fairly Stoned, Hasta Linguini, RVO Blushing Dancer, Sachet, URG1, Vietcong, Aasenii, Fairy Door, Mint Imperial, Norah II (don't know what happened to Norah I) and Eric.

If you want Golden Showers you can have them in Cycnoches, Cymbidium or Phaleanopsis (twice, including Orchid Classic's Golden Showers, which is a deliciosa cross apparently)

(Now I have to go do one of the things I should have been doing LOL)

LOL Wrebbitrocks. Could be a different one I guess. Someone on this board has been showing off their Karen Armstrong (catesetum or something similar). Can't help giggling at some of the things they say about 'her' as I know a Karen Armstrong (but not the one it's named after).

Bill Thoms registered a cross of C. velutina and E. cordigera, and it was so ugly he named it "Never Remake This"
