I'm sad, as this means it's time for many things to start coming back in to hibernate for winter.

The temps got down to the low 50's last night and are expected to reach the mid to low 40's tonight. Guess its time to start hauling them all back inside though I've fought to not do so.

They keep saying the temps will go back up to the lower 60's, but I just can't take the risk.

I had to move some of mine into the greenhouse overnight a few times in the last couple of weeks and decided this morning they are staying put in there until the come into the house (which will be soon). 46F overnight last night and not much warmer as I left for work so I didn't want to move them back out.

The Phals, Den Phals, Paphs, Phrags and a few others are indoors all year anyway. But the Oncidiums, Maxallaria, Restrepia and the various mounts will have to come in from the greenhouse soon as I'm not heating the greenhouse by more than a couple of degrees at this time of year, so really just guarding against wind-chill and unexpected frost (we've already had one light one in other parts of the UK).

The Masdies and the Cymbidium will stay in the greenhouse all winter with a min of 40F being maintained. The Cyps will probably have their tubs moved in there as well, or I might just cover them and leave them outside in a sheltered spot.

It's that time of year that I've been planning and thinking about where everything will go. Doesn't seem long since I was putting them out

I brought in over 150 plants last night and found that I have no room left even after expanding my indoor grow area. Gonna have to fix that so that I can get a few more!!

I am still waiting on the glass replacement for my sun room - Yikes! I have been bringing in when it rains and is cool to avoid rot. It's pouring rain today and it is is just too much water; and with so many tiny pots, they go flying in the wind!

Otherwise have been leaving out when when the temps are in the high 50's at night for the intermediate and cool growers. We're still having warm days. I usually leave my Cyms out until it gets into the 40s at night. Otherwise no blooms! Phals and related monopedials are inside all year

Interesting about your phals. I've been taking them outside so they can feel the temp differentials in the seasons.though only 4 bloomed for me this year sadly, so really hoping the longer chilly nights will help this year. Last year we went from 90s at night to 40s in one day! Yikes!!!

Psh! In colorado we go from 90 to 40 every night in the summer. Plants don't come in unless I know for a fact they'll sulk if they get too cold. And I have super low humidity too so evap cooling is a serious contender here. What it comes down to is that I know the plants I need to baby and the ones I don't. Most info not need to baby and will stay out until the 30s.

Oh and I'll move them once, I'm not a taxi service!

I try to avoid getting into the 30s. I leave out all but the most tender into the 50s with occasional high 40s (not multiple nights) without problems including Catts, Dens and Zygos. I am careful about watering early in the day and ensuring leaves are dry before nightfall.

All of my plants are inside now as well, and I too realized I'm out of room. The weather is just way too unpredictable.

Once I hauled 200 plants inside their in for the winter, im not about to bring them in and out according to weathering I used to when the collection was smaller.
