Thats too bad about the sun. It seems things are feast or famine when it comes to our conditions these days.
What I was most surprised by wasn't the overall size of the plant but the bulbs are at least twice the size of my old one that got chewed by the hail. The plant is fantastic. You can be sure that for my part this plant will never see hail!!!!!!! I'm desperate to build a small shade house this season. Less for the shade and more for the reason to string up some strong netting that will keep hail from making its direct assault. I saw someone use shade cloth that was rated extremely low so that it let nearly all light thru but they used it to deflect hail and damaging winds. We get a lot of wind in Colorado. It's not uncommon to have 30 mph sustained 50 mph gusts for days at a time. It makes growing orchids outside a huge pain.
