Darn That Max really looked like it would pull though, it looked ok. I didn't know that you could get tetraploid tenuifolia, those are huge bulbs! The question is if that translates to bigger, better blooms.

I know it's no sure thing but doesn't 4n usually mean the plant grows more robustly overall? I hope so because after that hail storm, I need a own dose of 4n! Although I think having extra chromosomes as a human is a decidedly bad thing.

I'm told this particular plant, at least by a friends account, blooms quite a bit and on a near constant basis than you reg max t. So we shall see.

Well if you get it, please give updates! If it's easier to bloom, that's wonderful, because I'm having a tough time with mine...

So sorry to hear about your orchid collection :\
On another note, I have both a regular 'ol max tenuifolia and a the max. tenuifolia 4n.

There is an obvious difference in size of pseduobulbs and the growth rate. My 4n has close to 40 bulbs (each very plump) and is just now coming into new growth.

I haven't seen blooms on either plant just yet. Hopefully next spring!

Wow, it's bigger than mine, and I've had it for almost 2 years!

I know this won't help as you're in Europe but it was 35 USD from orchids.com. I'm so impressed with it! Others on other forums have said it grows faster, bigger, stronger, does flower more and more easily and a few even said its more fragrant. So we shall see. It gets doused several times a day with water and lives in full sun at 6500'. I was told they live water and sun and it's definitely getting both!

Mine is growing fast, but it was a really small plant when I got it. Wish I could order one like yours! I'll hunt around, a lot of vendors have it here, but I never paid attention if any were 4N. Mine is getting tons of water, but i can't do much about the sun. It doesn't come out from behind the clouds very often!
