How terrible! Yes family and pets are the most important an I'm glad you are all ok, but it doesn't make it any less heartbreaking to lose some of the things you are passionate about. I saw pics from a friend also in CO, the amount of hail was quite impressive.
Did you lose many orchids? That Max looks like it went through the shredder, but they're tough plants it should bounce back.

I am glad you and your family are ok....
I hope you have a sound property insurance...hailstorm damage qualifies for insurance indemnity and also your trees that got damaged and the plants and orchids but you need to itemize them for the insurance...
I have your address and I know where you live...one of these days the pink Neo(now blooming again) I gave you last winter will have more orchids as companions...

Thanks everyone, it's been a long past 24 hours. Such damage is difficult because you can be going about cleaning up and discover something else destroyed by the hail. A foot of hail really doesnt leave much untouched.

You can see my max above survived well enough I think it'll make it. It was growing in an sh vase I used that allowed the plant to sit inside it. That turns out helped it. The glass broke but my guess is that it took the brunt of it all and only when the hail for really bad did it succumb. It was a neat vase but those can be had at tj max pretty cheap.

As for the plants lost, most were house plants...ones we've had for years. I lost some neo hybrids, some Oncs and tolumnias. I cant figure out which ones, though. Besides my max t i had a max picta too but I can't even find the plants pot much less the plant itself!!!! The plant name tags are gone and I have yet to find one whole enough to read its label. Those white plastic tags got chewed up like fine mulch. I did not put my neos outside because they are blooming....first time reblooming them too!

Thank you all for being do kind. I love this forum because you guys are so supportive. I would never expect people to send me plants, but it's nice to know you'd be willing. We will rebuild my plant collection but as has been said the irreplaceables are safe.

The house has been inspected and minimal damage. The roof is only two years old and made it through like a rock star. We have some water damage because the winds and hail were strong enough to pushes the windows open by the seals and let water in. Nature had some serious hate that day! No windows broken but I guess she didn't need to break them to still get inside.

My chickens are safe too. I envy them...they ran around yesterday like they hadn't gotten terroriZed by ice.

Besides my orchids, my biggest upset is the garden. It was going to be an awesome year. My roses were all beginning to bloom and busting with buds. Natures hard prune, hopefully, did not lasting damage to them.

Hopefully much of the garden will recover, I think roses, if established are quite tough ? Glad your home seems mostly ok, and that the chickens are good too!

Ok guys, here's an update...

I had to officially declare the following as dead:

1. Max T
2. One catt
3. One Vanda neo hybrid.

The max t was badly damaged in the hail storm and for a while I thought it might pull through but alas, the few new growths it had before the hail storm simply turned brown and died.

I plan on replacing the max t. The others probably not. I loved my neo hybrids but it's ok.

I hope to get this max t.
