Just found this old thread, so thought I'd update on these plants!
Paph venestum: lost several leaves soon after I got it, but is now growing a second one since then! Slow, but it's growing.
Sediria japonica: I've not got this one cracked. I think I kept it too hot over winter and it lost a lot of roots. Keeps putting new stuff out.. but a bit diminished overall! Hopefully I'm getting there with it!
Cornu-cervi: have had massive problems getting it to grow roots! Half of the ones I left on originally did prove not to be viable, and the others would grow a little then stop... I kept repotting it and I think I've finally got it happy: it's now in a small pot half filled with lecca and chunky bark on top, and gets sprayed most days so it's mostly pretty dry. It now has one great root right to the bottom of the pot and another old one has started growing properly. It finally stays in a pot and doesn't fall out! Several new leaves too...
Max picta: seemed ok at first but then began to decline. Tried repotting into something chunkier (which I've found works for me), but it was the last straw and sadly both died a couple of months ago. I have just got a much larger one... I now realise how tiny they were! They had pulb probably less than a cm, whereas the new one the biggest is several inches.
Purple Martin: the 'blisters' on the leaves after spraying turned out to from leaving it out wet (from spraying) on the balcony and it got too cold. Unfortunately it also blasted the smaller spike.. The larger one produced one gorgeous scented flower... then one of my cats hooked it over: not even off the shelf, but it snapped the spike and it died... Plant is healthy, lots of new leaves, no new spikes so far LOL
Cycnoches Wine Delight: had to be repotted twice last summer because it grew so fast (hard to keep up with the water and fert!), then surprised me with a single flower! Currently still being water deprived but new roots growing on it's new growth so will be starting watering soon...
