Could be that your package from Popow simply had a rough trip, who knows.

As much as it hurts, I have decided to be reasonable for now in my orchid purchases. The schwerter order (shrunk) is on the back burner for now as is the one at Lucke. First I'll get 3-4 plants from Elsner, and then I want to order from Claessen (an awesome grower). Then I'm going to a small show/sale at my local orchid society in 2 weeks.
All of them will not be leaving, there are three I won't separate from no matter what; my oldest which I've had for seven years and the one that kind of started it all, my mutant (the peloric one I took my username from), and my Little Emperor lookalike. These three are my darlings that has been with me through thick and thin. Those that are leaving are being given to my sister and my best friend so I can come and visit them any time I want to.

Same here, I have no choice than start and being reasonable. But on the other hand, I've gotten most of those "Oh-I-must-have-that-one-no-matter-the-cost", so I think I'm pretty set now, especially since Stone Dance is on its way to me.

Could you imagine the amount of orchids I would have ordered if I had been into more genera than two?

Well if I was going to go to a show I would have made sure that I emptied all of my pockets and left the cards at home!! Just to be on the safe side

I got a few paphs from Elsner the other day and one of them had a mealy bug the other was wobbly in it's pot and I had to put in wooden skewers but all in all I am quite happy with her. Schwerter remains my number one though - in Europe that is.

I'm safe at shows here, I've yet to see a grower take anything other than cash. So I set my limit beforehand, and that's it!

My number one in Europe (they do species mostly) is Nardotto, I've never ever been disappointed! But I only order when I happen to be in France, otherwise shipping is way too much. Then Schwerter. And Claessen of course, I've never had probs and they're in my country. But small catalogue.

Well I have never been to a show so I wouldn't know about that but thanks for the heads up!

I love Schwerter as he seems to have whatever you need. I am finding new vendors daily though so I will soon be able to comment about them but at the moment lack of funds is stopping me from finding out right now.
