Wink Orders will start to arrive next week!

I couldn't wait, but had to share it with you!

Two of the vendors, Stenåsa (Swedish) and Popow (German), will ship my orders next week! Woot! I'm soooo happy! This means that my humble collection will get a bit of a Phal boost and much more of a Paph boost!

These are the chids I'm expecting to arrive next week (quite naturally, the one from the Swedish vendor will arrive first):

Stenåsa:
P. stuartiana
Paph. appletonianum var. hainanense (please correct me if I'm wrong about this guy being considered an appletonianum )

Popow:
P. equestris Ilocus
P. equestris 'Blue Lip'
Paph. appletonianum
Paph. purpuratum (couldn't stop myself any longer, I just HAD to have it, and yes I know Elsner has it for a lower price - but I want to check out the different vendors right now)

So, next week, Christmas season will start here in my flat!

And yes, I will update this thread as soon as my darlings have arrived.

Me to! The funny part is that it's the vendors I ordered from most recently that are the first to ship to me.

I will have a very nice and extended Christmas season in my flat, since all of the orders should start coming these next two months.

I envy you ability to order so many from so many different places!!! If you are interested, Popow often has some great stuff on ebay that isn't in his shop, and the stuff that's also in his shop is often cheaper on ebay (unless the bidding goes crazy). His ebay name is lepantes.

I have wishlists at Schwerter (you know that one), Elsner, Akerne, Claessen, but I think I'll only be able to order from one place. :/ Maybe in late May I can order from a second place, since I'll get my holiday bonus at work.

Really? I'll check it out then! He seems to have great plants and seems to be quick to respond so so far I like this vendor.

The only reason I "can" order as much as I have is because I've some rapidly shrinking savings and no self control.

I'll start working again too so as to rebuild what I've spent on my orchid-buying frenzy.

I am putting aside money every month, but with a student loan to pay off there's actually not a whole lot going into savings. Luckily I should have it paid off in 2 years!

Popow usually has 50-100 plants listed every 10 days or so, with lots of nice things! Lately he's been putting up a lot of plants for immediate purchase, saving you the stress of bidding. I'm thinking about buying the Phal speciosa C1 he has now, it's a good price. So keep your hands off of it!

I have one heck of a student loan to pay off too, but I'm rather low maintenance when it comes to my daily costs so I don't spend that much money, except on chids at the moment.

I have bookmarked his ebay-page now so I can find again. Wohoo! More chids to spend money on!

The P. speciosa is yours Camille (go for it!). Its got hairy lips, can't deal with hairy lips - they make my skin crawl... *shudders*

I'm also a low maintenance type of gal, but since I like to fly home every 2-3 months, it eats up money. And lately I keep getting slammed by huge vet bills and other unexpected things... Then there's the issue that I really really want to move out of the cramped student room I'm in and get a proper apartment, but my rent is going to nearly double. Bah, adult life!

LOL.... I remember the days of those woes oh so we'll guys! Seems jus like yesterday. But let me tell you, things don't change as you get older either. I just had a dog teeth cleaning/pulling charge of $1500 US that was unexpected ( half of the teeth were not connected and rotting), paying on student loans since I recently went back and got another degree, and stuck in a dead end job that barely covers the bills. Still need to be fairly low maintenance here on a daily basis as well. I may not be as young as you guys, but I feel your pain, lol... Yet somehow I always have money for orchids!!!!

Things are getting tight for everyone... I work as a catsitter and dogwalker, through an agency, and have for about 4 years. Never high paid, but I did OK. Problem is, I'm getting the same rate as I was when I started. It seems I'm getting more work than when I started, but the money just doesn't go as far. I thought of suggesting to the agency boss we put the rates up, but I know we are already the 'premium' service in the area, and most charge less, so I don't think that would work.

Got to go visit some cats now...
