Smile Pics and some new 'chids from a French show.

This weekend I went down to Lille in northern France to visit some relatives, and also go to a show in a beautiful setting; the Abbaye de Vaucelles.

It was a great show, but there were way, way too many people. The show area was busy, but the sales area was a nightmare. Some stands were impossible to approach, let alone catch a glimpse of! No big loss since French growers are horribly overpriced (minimum 25-30€ per plant) and most of the foreign growers matched their prices.
I have very few decent pics. It was really dark indoors, and there were always people in the way...

And a gigantic Coelogyne cristata!!

One grower (Ching Hua Orchids from Taiwan) did have reasonably priced orchids, so I bought 2 plants, but very healthy with outstanding roots. Sadly I was too late to pre-order in February, so couldn't get the ones I REALLY wanted!

So I got:
Slc Hazel 'M' - A red mini catt. No blooms but has 2 sheaths full of buds. Ching Hua Orchids- Cattleya
Neostylis Pinky = (Neo. falcata 'pink' x Rhyn. gigantea 'red'). I'm not sure if it will be the spotted type, or a solid red/purple, they had one of each on display I I forget to check which I picked up!

From a German grower I got a Phal I've been dying to get, Phal Fantasy Musick! orchideeen lucke Phal Fantasy Musick It's in bud, so pics to come later.

WOW! That is quite a show. Most of the plants are in bloom and big specimens(not just those three divisions in bloom)so I beleive you if it is 20 to 30 Euros...
Id have bought the giant cristata for all its worth...its spectacular!

That's the show section only, with the award winning/specimen sized plants, that are not for sale. C. cristata was for sale at several vendors, but only 6-10 bulbs. Nowhere near the size of that monster in my pics!

Great pictures and looks like a gorgeous building that was hosting the show too.
Fantasy Musick reminds me of Mini Mark, maybe the spots. Beautiful phal!

Yes, it's a gorgeous building! It was build in the early 1100s. The entry fee goes towards the renovation of it. It was falling apart, and people would come collect stones from it for their own use. Most is gone now, but the church part of it was preserved and mostly restored before it was too late.

As for the Phals, yes Fantasy Musick looks like Mini Mark, and that's because they are very similar crosses.
Fantasy Musick = Micro Nova x equestris
Mini Mark = Micro Nova x philippinensis

So now I have both!!
