My problem is that I don't have to leave the house. Computer + Ebay = more orchids.

So many orchids, so little time. It makes sense to get them all right away so that you can enjoy them for the years to come. It can take an orchid a few years to become really a nice plant as they grow slowly.
Plants are a great thing to collect as they actually benefit the collector by filtering the air and addiing humidity. There is also quite a bit of science and problem-solving involved in growing them which is very good for the mind. So many benefits! I always wonder why everyone doesn't collect them!

2 years ago I had 75 orchids without joining a forum...now I have 168...some given to me and some bought online or on Ebay as Jonada did...
My windows are full; blocking the sunlight...the dining table have five large plants in bloom...the corner tables have two each in bloom...I cant wait for the warmer months so I can all put them out in the fire escape ...
I am inventing ways to make space for more orchid acquisitions, heh

2 years ago I had 1 orchid. My Mother in law said she just loved orchids. She meant phals. I thought, well, I like plants so if I collect orchids she will understand it. I did, she didn't. Now I love orchids and she could care less.

WOW! but your (MIL) said she loved orchids...so when she saw your collection growing she must hate/envied you...cause you can actually grow them and make them bloom...she just appears to be nonchalant but I am sure she so wants to grow orchids too but cant , heh

No, she says that she is overwhelmed with how many of one thing I have. She is like that, so I believe that is the problem. I love her. She is one of my best friends. But, she can be a bit odd sometimes.
