Default What is this? A non-serious little contest. :)

The reason why I didn't put this thread in the "Contests & Polls"-section is because this is just a little silly thing and not a serious contest where you can win wonderful prizes. The only thing the winner will get in this so called contest, is a picture made in Photoshop by me of their favourite orchid. In other words; you will have no idea whether this is a prize worth competing for or if you should compete on who will have to accept it. *sniggers evilly*

So, time to put all those precious seconds, minutes, and hours spent och staring at your Phals to use and tell me what this might be *points to attached pictures*; is it a spike or a root?

Rules: each competitor is allowed three guesses during the whatever-it-is's growth and the one with the most accurate guesses will win the highly sought after prize (see the first paragraph in this post). If the growth is stunted due to embarrassment caused by being stared at and photographed continuously, the most keen participant will win the "award". What I mean by previous statement is for me to know and for you not to. (man, I love this)

Let's give the growth a month, shall we? So come on! Take a shot and guess! New pictures will be uploaded as soon as a week has passed to document its progress. Use your guesses wisely and good luck!

I hope at least someone won't be too busy to play with me...

Edit: fixed some errors and weird sentences.

Yay! The game is on!

Oh, shoot. Do you all have to be in such agreement? I can't even guess at a root myself because it looks suspiciously much like a spike... And it doesn't need another one with three already, it needs roots! If I'm lucky it will turn out to be a root disguised as a spike.

Daethen: It looks extremely healthy which was one of the reasons I couldn't leave the local vendor without it: it was practically glowing standing there on the self among the others. And it was cheap.
Can life get any better than that?

Roots are smooth at the tip, spikes have a sort of 'mitten' shaped tip.

Whops! I was so excited about winning the auction I almost forgot about my little ongoing contest.

So, you'll only get one photo today because I couldn't get a good angle or enough light. I'll see if I can take a better picture tomorrow. As I've said in another thread, it has grown a bit, but it hasn't really changed appearance-wise. I would actually say it looks exactly the same as last Sunday.

Oh, well. Hopefully it'll be possible to say what it is until the contest is over.

Here ya go!
