while staying at the El Silencio lodge and spa I got to talking with our guide about orchids, and he informed us about his uncle's back yard where he has over 400 different species. he grows them by just tying them to trees and let hem do their own thing. Our guide dropped us off at his house and let us explore at our own pace
Sounds like you had a great time, Tommy. Is El Silencio near Arenal Volcano?
Most of the orchids we saw on our trip in January were in our friends garden. My husband climbed several trees and found orchids up there, but he is not as good a photographer as I am so I have not posted his photos.
Still planning on retiring there.
