Default Our Greenhouse Project

My hubby and I have embarked on a fairly extensive tiling and improving project for our greenhouse! We've had the greenhouse (attached to our home and heated) for more than 20 years. But it was never given the finishing touches to make it look nice, even tho it was functional. So I thought i would post some pictures as our work progresses. The area is about 10 ft. x 32 ft. and is set down about 3 ft. from the level of the yard outside.

So we started by moving everything away from the 3 ft. concrete pony wall and tiling it. We also did some on the far end wall which is concrete as well. The wall will have a 1 ft. wide tiled ledge once we are finished.

For starters I have only 1 photo to show where we are at. We had to cover all my orchids with plastic and hang a plastic wall to try and keep cement dust and dirt off of them (and they still got dusty). We had to chisel and grind at the rough spots where the seams were on the concrete wall which was real dirty! The left side is the outside wall of the house that this room is attached to. Once the right side is finished, we will move everything over and start on the other side!

Actually that's the room I have been 'filling up' for years! So there isn't any extra space. I keep saying I am at my limit. But a few new ones always manage to sneak a spot somewhere in there. But we do want some open space just to be able to sit out there and enjoy it too when it's all done. We have long cold winters so a taste of summer in the middle of winter will be nice!

Very awesome. A sunroom is almost on our list for a home when we start looking. Almost.

Sounds like a big job, but will be worthwhile! I look forward to seeing the progress.

Nice project, and better late than never!! I wish I had that sort of room it would be perfect!
Some neighbors down the street used to have tons and tons of plants hanging in every windowsill, and their growlights could be seen from far away. Then last summer they added a GH against their house, and they now have a beautiful green jungle!

I would love to have that attached to my home. Congrats and I am sure that it will help you keep organized once it is finished.

That's what I do as well. I say, oh, the apartment is full of plants,,,,,then I would sneak in one or two here and there and find more rooms. hehehe

Thanks for the interest everyone! I'll add photos as progress occurs.

Camille, That was us before the greenhouse was added. Our house was very jungle like in the living room. We were married in that room and the J.P. said it was the most romantic setting he had ever done a wedding in

Can't imagine a better setting for a wedding, that sounds absolutely fantastic!! And certainly cheaper than going to get married in a real jungle.
