Default North of England Orchids Show Pics, December 2011.

Here are a selection of picture taken 10th December 2011, at the local North of England Orchid Show.

I had a lovely time with lots to see and lovely people to talk to. I also met fellow OB board member Eddie Oates, who was displaying a lovely Phrag. grande - Stunning plant! Which came first in it's group and is pictured in the album.

Forgive me if some of the naming is a little off! (and some pictures not as focused as I would have liked)

SORRY - Link Removed. I may provide a new link in the future.

This is also the Cambria Massai my husband and Ray from Ray Creek Orchids, snook by me! A surprise early gift And I though I was being good by actually walking away without buying a new plant, only enjoying the beauty of them! I had fallen in love with that one too! I Love the colour!

Beautiful pics. I especially liked the Vanda coerulea. I can't wait to see what color variety mine turns out to be, once it gets big enough to bloom.

I am very impressed that you didn't buy one thing! And then you got a beautiful red surprise! Good job, hubby!

Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed the pictures.
The V. coerulea was lovely, definitely one on the Wish List for me! You will have to be sure and post some pictures up when yours blooms. I'm sure I am not the only one who would like to see.

The trick I employed to not buy a plant was to think about the Gifts I have yet to buy. Nice how things can work out in the end. I am lucky to have such a very lovely and thoughtful husband!

I will definitely post pics when my V. coerulea blooms. But you'll have to stick around for 2 or 3 years lol!

Our OS show isn't until January, and there aren't any other local shows until then. So I don't have the temptation before Christmas. Whew!

Well they say patience is a virtue

Temptation!? Be wary of the stores! I don't know about where you are but there are a few shops near me that sell Orchids. True they are usually unidentified, but none the less there have been some stunning blooms! Even Christmas shopping you are not safe

Hope you have a great time at your next show in January! Make sure to take pics!

True, our home improvement stores keep pretty well stocked with a lot of different orchids. That's where I have to be careful. I just saw they were selling Encyclia species at Lowe's. I forget which species, but about 95% of their non-Phal orchids have tags. I will definitely post pics from the January show.

Your welcome and thank you for looking.
"BUY BUY BUY !" Always the way. You walk away from a show (or even just pictures of a show) with yet more "Wish List" Candidates
You can never have enough plants, let alone Orchids. I still have some surfaces and windowsill space left, so not quite at the "Have enough" stage yet. You never know perhaps your wife has an Orchid related gift hidden away somewhere .

Yes, quite a few buds yet to open but it is getting there and a few more were open this morning no blasts yet either, which is nice.

Yes those two Odontioda's were something to behold. I was proud of how the Phoenix March pictures turned out. But nothing can compare to seeing that plant up close and personal. It was breathtaking to be honest, almost dream like. A true stunner
