Default What a night!

Last night was 'interesting'. So is the damage to my roof and the rest of the village. It grew from a stiff breeze to all hell breaking loose then it lasted all night and is still going! It must have been bad because the birds were flying butt first!

No, it wasn't -17. The thermometer broke last year lol. 165mph recorded in the mountains. Not good.

Good grief, what stirred up all that wind? I hope you don't live near the mountains and that you didn't suffer any damage. Stay safe.

It slammed into us yesterday and blizzards are forecast for today. There are 50,000 homes without power and almost every house in my village is damaged to some extent. I thought my roof would come off last night. I'm only a 45 min drive from the mountains but fortunately the winds didn't reach the 165mph level here.

Wow, that's astonishing and scarey. Tropical storms and hurricanes are the worst threats in Florida, but those type of storms aren't accompanied by frigid temperatures like your's was. Your storm sounds really awful and repairing the damage is probably going to be a challenge, especially with winter approaching. My prayers are with you.

We get hurricane strength winds every winter on our west coast but this was the worst weather in ten years here. Throw in the snow that's due today and we are in for some more interesting times.

My goodness, storms like that sound awful, especially at such an inopportune time of the year. Your situation causes me to reflect and count my blessings. Stay warm and safe and keep us posted.

This is one of several oil rig supply ships that use the natural harbour of our bay regularly when storms are raging from the land. The 'smoke' you see is spray. When it looks like this you know it's dangerous weather. The wind changed direction as the eye passed over us shortly after I took this picture and the ship had to leave. I know the rigs would have had some violent seas to contend with. Glad my feet are on 'dry' land lol.

I pray that your weather settles itself in the near future. We are entering winter here. By the amount of fat that the deer and squirrels have on them this year I am worried that we are in for a hard winter. Amazingly, we haven't had really cold weather until this week and we have had no snow. Doesn't even look like Christmas.
