I think the business mentality is completely different between the US and Europe. I've never once had a grower offer a replacement plant. I've had problems 5 times now (with 5 different growers), and the best I ever got was a gift certificate for the value of the plant, and that was after insisting a lot. Another one got so upset that I wanted a refund for a half dead orchid that they now refuse to do business with me. Fine by me, I'll shop elsewhere.

BUT knowing this grower, I wouldn't be surprised if the next time I order he throws in a freebie of some sort. Last time I ordered (6 plants) he sent me one of the plants (a phal) with no less than 3 plants in the pot! Another time I got free fertilizer. He's an honest guy and very nice (met him at a show) so I hate to cause too much trouble, especially seeing how rough the economy is on them. He's also the type of grower that, if you are looking for a specific plant, he'll ask around to try to find it for you.

I agree. If he has treated you well in the past, he may just be really hurting with the economy as it is. best not to push it further probably. It's too bad tho.
