Oh BOY! That looks so great!

Did you find the black eggcrate or paint the white type?

Don't forget when you do your leaves to sandwich them in between wax paper. Not only does it create a really nice softened light, it keeps the paper inside cool.

You can also double stack or triple stack the wax paper. . .to adjust light intensity on individual plants.

We had a piece of plastic grid laying around from when we made the shelves for the humidity trays in the room. It was silver and we spray painted it with a plastic paint.

I plan on doing it soon. I realized very quickly that I love the way the tank looks when the light is on but the plants need shade...so the greatness of your idea has been kicked up a notch

*big grin* I am so glad you like it and can use it for your tank!!!

And don't forget that you can also cut panels of that translucent plastic that Home Dept sells for flourecent lights. . .it has a little bit of a texture which breaks up the light.

I cut two panels each to fit snugly in each window screen area in the Eco Tank Screen top. I put one layer of the plastic (textured side up), and then a layer of wax paper, the leaves, another layer of wax paper and then the final layer of plastic (textured side down). . .for all four screened in panels. This really locks the humidity in!

Then I "shaded" some of the plants a little more, with extra wax paper. Removed one layer of wax paper in the front to brighten up that area. I used a light meter and just played with it. I had a wonderful time. LOL

Oh and you COULD spray paint that silver fan guard black too, to make that little baby disappear. I love the black eggcrate!!

Your orchids look great in there!!!
