My 'Chid Wishlist! Male
Default My 'Chid Wishlist!

Well, seeing that winter is nearly upon us here in Canada, and it is now impractical to have orchids shipped, I have begun to make an orchid Christmas list (more like spring list, which is when I will be able to get them!), of all the 'chids out there from various genera that I have to get my hands on. Since there hasn't been anything new for me for a while (though I do have a few things in bud!), I thought I would share my wishlist with you, and maybe you could share your list of 'chids that you would die to have! So here it goes:

Bulbophyllum

~Bulb. ambrosia, Bulb. elassonatum, Bulb. guttulatum, Bulb. lasiochilum, Bulb. plumatum, and Bulb. pulchellum. =6

Cattleya

~*B. cuculatta, *B. nodosa, *B. cordata/subulifolia, *B. martiana, *Bro. sanguinea, *C. aclandiae, C. granulosa, C. guttata, C. x guatemalaensis, C. leopoldii, C. loddegesii, *C. luteola, C. tigrina (syn. guttata v. tigrina), Enc. alata, Enc. bracheata, Enc. polybulbon, Enc. prismatocarpum, *Epi. propax (syn. peperonia), Enc. pyriformis, Epi. nocturnum, L. anceps v. alba, *L. anceps v. veitchiana L. bradei, *L. briegeri, L. crispata, L. harpophylla, L. kettieana, L.lilluputana, L. longipes, L. mantiqueirae, L. praestans , L. pumila, L. rubescens, Soph. acuensis, Soph. alagoensis, Soph. brevipedunculata, *Soph. cernua, *Soph. coccinea, Soph. pygmaea, and Soph. wittigiana. =40
~B. Little Stars, Bc. Bill Worsley, Bc. Binosa, *Bc. Hippodamia 'Hanabu' AM/AOS, Bc. Kosh Wallis 'Paradise', Bc. Little Marmaid 'Janet' BM/JOGA, *Bc. Sunny Delight, Bct. Chocolate Starburst, *Bl. Aurora, Blc. Hawaii Stars 'Hsinying', *Blc. Love Sound, Bpl. Golden Spice 'Red Peppers', *C. Fascelis, C. Landate, C. Rembrant, *C. Resplendens, C. Small World, C. Quinquecolor, *Ctna. Why Not, Ctt. Chocolate Drop, *Ctt. Minerva, Cty. Middleburg 'MAJ' AM/AOS, Ephs. Janet Anderson Brown, Lc. Jungle Elf, *Lc. Rojo, *Lc. Sierra Skies 'Leone' BM/JOGA, Lctna. Renate 'S&W', Pcv. Golden Peacock 'Orange Beauty', Pot. Petite Petite 'Lucky', *Rcv. Aristocrat, *Sc. Beaufort, *Sl. Coral Orb, Slc. Fire Fighter 'Janet', Slc. Little Hazel 'M'. =34

Cypripedium

~Cyp. parviflorum and Cyp. reginae. =2

Oncidium

~Tolu. bahamense, Tolu. pulchella, Tolu. sylvestris, and Tolu. velutina. =4
~Rdm. Orchidom Red Love ‘Pedregal’ HCC/AOS and Tolu. Alemeda Joy ‘Spots’ AM/AOS. =2

Paphiopedilum

~Paph. coccineum, Paph. delenatii, Paph. esquirolei, Paph. gluacophyllum, *Paph. helenae, *Paph. henryanum, *Paph. herrmannii, Paph. hirsutissimum, Paph. liemianum, Paph. lowii, and Paph. wardii. =11
~Paph. Armeni White, Paph. Berenice, Paph. Deedmannianum, Paph. Druid Spring, Paph. Honey, Paph. Iantha Stage, Paph. Lebaudyanum, Paph. Lion Weltz, Paph. Little Alexander, *Paph. Pinocchio, *Paph. Spicy Henry, and Paph. Wossner Mini Goldi. =13

Phalaenopsis/Vanda

~Asc. ampullaceum, Phal. equestris ‘Blue’ and ‘Orange’, Phal. parishii, Phal. stuartiana 'Sogo', V. bensonii V. brunnea, V. suavis, V. testacea, =9
~Phal. Cassandra ‘Little Prince’ AM/AOS. =1

WOW!!! That is GIGANTIC!!! There is 120!!! And the craziest this is that I would be perfectly content getting anything from the above list, and there is only a few that I would pick above the others in the list. Oh, and another thing, I blame YOU people for about 50% of the plants that made their way onto this list, as you all are always tempting me with your pretties , so keep posting photos and watch this list GROOOOOOW. (Edit, those marked with *asterisks* are ones I would choose over the rest!)

I'm very into fragrant herbs/flowers and when I first got into orchids, I found a list online of fragrant orchids and made up a wish list from it. But, unfortunately, there were many, many names on that wishlist and I am now out of room. The ones that still remain on that list are: Blc goldenzelle 'lemon chiffon', Enclyclia Lancifolia, Enclyclia prismatocarpa, Encyclia randii, Encyclia phoenicea, Coelogne orcheacea/nitida, Coelogne memoria W Micholitz, Aerides houlletianum, Dendrobium anosmum, and Paphiopedium malipoense. Thankfully, I've never seen them except online so I will be safe from temptation. Yeah!

So Cody, When are you going to ask your parents to move out of the house to make room for all those chids???

I have so many on my wish list, I dare not start typing them all LOL

Well, from my calculations, if one of my plant stands can hold around 50, two more, which really won't take up much room, will allow me to get this whole list with room to spare! I could even build a third stand, though I wouldn't have much room to turn around in my bedroom!

Hmmm, looks like a short list Cody. I'm sure you could find more room in your house.

Is that a challenge? If my parents would let me, I could put two stands downstairs, but as it stands (LOL!!!), I am only allowed to put one down there. And I think I could get two in my bedroom outside of my closet, but I don't think I could get three in there, as I would have to get rid of my TV. So, I could house a theoretical maximum of around 200 give or take a dozenish.

I have sort of 2 wishlists: The one with all the orchids I want, and the shorter one with all the orchids I want and have the right conditions to grow. It makes a huge difference sadly!

So on that smaller list, at the top there is:
*Phal equestris, different forms (I'm collecting them!)
*Phal equestris primary hybrids
*Phal speciosa C1
*Phal cornu cervi fma. chattaladae
*Phal violacea
*Paph Pinocchio
*Paph delenatii
*Paph micranthum
*Paph henryanum
*Neofinetia falcata, different types
*Den aberrans
*Den laevifolium
*Den harveyanum
*Soph cernua
*Soph brevipedunculata
.
.
.
.
The list goes on, but I can't remember anymore. The entire list is in my Orchidwiz journal wishlist.
