YAY!!! Just got home from school to an e-mail from Cloud's Orchids saying they shipped out my seven 'chids, which should arrive on Wednesday! I also found out what my bonus plant is! I bought the following:

When I'll go to their retail sales weekends, I'll get myself Phal. lobbii, it really is too cute! I just wonder how many orchids my mom will be willing to bring back in her car

Nice selection. I ordered psychopsis and bunch of catts last week from them too, but mine will come out next Monday. I wish they had more blooming sized plants. Looking forward to see your pictures.

Ooo! Can't wait to see your photos! The thing about Cloud's is that to ensure to get your order out on the closest Mon, you have to have your order done early on Thurs. I think I placed mine late Thurs, and the option for the next Mon was gone, when it was there when I did a mock order (to check the availabilities for sure and the prices) on Wed, the option for that Mon was there.

I renew my long standing objection to the overcrowding problem that is occurring in your closet. I'll maintain this objection until you take your parents closet, to ensure your 'chids have sufficient space...

Don't worry! They aren't packed like sardines in there yet! My phal area still has room for a couple more, and my Catt/Bulbo area has plenty of room. I think I might hit critical mass with these eight though. The good thing is that I am planning on building one, maybe two more stands for more 'chids, each being the same 2'x5'x5'-ish dimensions. I plan on putting one in my bedroom for more warm growers like Phals and Catts, and another in the basement so I can grow the cool growers. Since I will be able to fit about 50 into one stand (depending on the size of the plant, it is more like 45-60), building two more will enable me to triple my collection from 50 to over 150!

Oh, by the way, I would absolutely LOVE to have their closet! I could grow a couple hundred in there, though I might need a ladder to reach some, as I would add a third teir (you have to maximize your available space, here! ) And their closet is about 8'x5'!

I might as well add this, but there is a whole room down in the basement that our border sleep/lives in (whatever you want to call it) that I already have claimed for 'chid once he moves out! The only thing is that my parents want to downsize once he leaves, which would royally suck, as I could fit SO many 'chids in a whole 10'x10' room! Gosh I am out of control! I need another job! And a greenhouse!

Very nice haul though, I'd love to have an Angraecum didieri! Is the Phal lobbii mounted or potted?
