how to force cut cymbidiums
hi! im in desperate need of help. we are doing a wedding, its this saturday. we are using all kinds of orchids, phals, vandas, dens, and cyms.
i got the cyms today and they are a little closed still. does anyone know of a way to force them to open more? they are still on the spike

If it is cut flower, you need to put it in tepid water with several pennies in the vase(I learned this from a florist shop)...the hot water forces the moisture to the flowers and the copper also makes the flower open faster...cyms have a lifespan of 10 days when cut...so youre good.
If it is still in the pot attached to the plant itself; then you just have to wait that on Saturday it opens its blooms...I dont wanna mess with the plant; it might die

I've never seen cut flower cyms with the flowers still closed to it must be plants. The only thing that would speed them up would be warmth, but with Cyms that's not a good idea since they're very likely to blast. So I think it's going to be wait and see, hopefully they'll be open for saturday.

we did the arranging today. so we just reflexed the petals and they opened a bit they look fine

ps. we bought phalaenopsis plants because it ended up cheaper that way. so i get to keep a bunch of phalaenopsis plants. they are from cosmis plants. and the website has the names. but im not sure that the names are "real" names
