Default Finally found a use! Ghost orchid!

Hello everyone!
Many of you may have remember way back when we had that article contest ... I was the winner of the small orchid pot presented by Erin's Pottery. For the longest time it sat on my computer desk empty.

But i finally found it's use - a GHOST orchid! Chiloschista lunifera to be specific.

I know they prefer to be mounted, but i rigged it up in this pot. I am planning to purchase a glass vase/bowl of some sort to set it in with a layer of water on the bottom for added humidity.

Anyway here are some pictures ... lemme know what you all think? If I can get this guy to grow and eventually bloom, I plan to try my luck with the Florida Ghost (Polyhrizza lindenii).

Looks like you made a nice job of it. Should be happy with added humidity you mentioned plus adequate light.

Ghost orchids are just one of quite a few that I just don't get, but good luck with it.
Best,
Tony

I have this is an inverted clay pot ...I hope it blooms on me;as for the Florida Ghost Orchid...its on its 2nd yr inside a large brandy sniffer with water and moss...it came in a stick and i hang the wire in the rim just barely touching the water level...by the window sill...I move it a foot away from the window in winter

Nice!! I remember that contest! Awesome pot. Erin's pottery is superb.
For me I get great enjoyment in locating Ghost orchids in their natural habitat. and for others I think (beside their beauty) getting one thats Blooming Size is near impossible, so its considered a real accomplishment to successfully grow one and to get it to bloom. I guess we like a challenge.
