Default Does anybody know what plant this is?

My husband found these growing out in the yard...something we definitely didn't plant so it's a total mystery:

It's a variety of tropical ginger. Someone must have planted them because they grow from a tuber. Lots of different colors in the varieties. This one's a white one

Looks like Zingiber zerumbet. Those of you living in Florida have me beat, there is no way I'd find something like this growing in my yard. I'm jealous

Yeah, that's sort of what I thought. Common name Shampoo Ginger or Pinecone Ginger. I still don't think it's a volunteer.

...and Ross, when we bought this property it was like a piece of the wilderness which we had to have cleared.
