Default A couple new arrivals for me too!

My sister got me a couple new orchids from Cloud's for my birthday. They are Calanthe Lucky Strike 'Dee's Amethyst' JC/AOS and Paph. amabile.

Paph. amabile is said to be a somewhat rare species, and it has very nice foilage already for one so small. Can't wait for it to flower.

Here's a detail photo of the plant. It's refered to as a large seedling and it's only 18cm in total width, so I'm hoping that it won't get too large at maturity.

Thanks for looking.

Happy Birthday!! Can't think of a better birthday present.

Very nice looking plants. That Paph has gorgeous patterned leaves.

Paph amabile seems to be a syn:

Paphiopedium amabile Hallier f. 1895 - See Paphiopedilum bullenianum [Rchb.f] Pfitzer 1894

~Paphiopedilum amabile sensu Guillam 1937 - See Paphiopedilum callosum (Rchb. f.) Pfitzer 1895

It is gorgeous!!

Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes although it's not for a couple weeks yet. She had to get a couple things when she saw them on the website before they were gone so she got these two for me. She is a pretty nice sister.

Shakkai, you're on the mark, it is the bullenianum type, alot like appletonianum species.
