PS : Perhaps orchidophilia should by introduced as a disease in the medicine world?

I was talking about this in a thread in another forum, and this is what I described myself as having! OCD (Orchid Collection Dysfunction: the need to obtain orchids until you do not have any more room) and OF (Orchid Fever: the feeling of absolute desperation in the need to get a certain type of orchid. Typified by obsessive thoughts on that type of orchid, sweating when thinking about getting that orchid, and depression when you must wait to get that type of orchid. If not treated soon, OF can turn into Orchid Hysteria, where you cannot perform any but the most basic tasks because you are so consumed with getting that type of orchid)

I agree! I told my dad that if he had any side jobs (he does maintenance for several buildings in the city) that I would do them ASAP! He obviously asked why because I normally would avoid work, but knowing he wouldn't understand the desperate need for an orchid fix, I told him that I needed the money for 'stuff.'

Continuing on the thread : I also think Cloud's orchids are very beautiful and healthy, it's a great choice for both pick-up and shipment!

OMG THESE COMMENTS ARE SO HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!!! So, along with those 10 Bulbo's, I also added a MS Epc. Kyoguchi 'Fumi.' And, as stated on their FB page, all orders over $100 receive a free seedling of their choice, which brings my total up to 12 orchids! All for about $190 with shipping, handling, and taxes! I am in love with Cloud's!

Happy Birthday, Cody! Glad to see you getting excited about new genre of chids! Here's my 2 cents, coming from one who is well experienced in OCD and money burning holes in pockets:
My dad always said that when I wanted to buy something (non-necessity item), I should wait 30 days and then if I still wanted it I can go for it! That has been some of the best advice I've ever gotten about money. I find that if I wait the 30 days, not only do I sometimes realize that isn't really what I wanted, but I can be researching the item, finding the best brand and/or price, finding the best looking plant, finding reviews about the item. Especially with plants I like this method because I end up taking my time looking for just the right plant at the right price, no matter how long it takes, and in the process I have a growing respect and appreciation for the plant because I'm not willing to buy just any ole ____ (fill in the blank). That makes it fun for me, enjoying the process, learning along the way and finding out things (even about myself) that I didn't expect. Hope that helps!

Haha, I know the feeling, you can never have enough orchids! My friends and family think I have some sort of orchid-collecting gene that limits my brain functions to...only orchid-related tasks. Very nice haul, definitely post pics when they arrive!

Thanks! I know it was a little overdone, but they were an average of $16 bucks each ($15-$20). Since I was about to spend $300 on four phals, and I have been interested in Bulbo's for a good while now, I thought I would go for the bulbo's now, and get the phals later. Another reason I got so much at once is that I promised my parents that this will be my last major order for a while, so after the four phals (I might cut one out) I will not be ordering or be able to order due to our longs winter and the impossibility to ship during winter. So, all of these circumstances, along with my excitement, lead to what I have described as OCD and OF, which I am sure everyone has got once or twice. I find it interesting how us orchid addicts and our hobby is one of the only hobbies to bring out so much emotion in us.

I'd say retroviruses that generate mental disorders because I seem to be giving it to some of the NORP
For the show, I think if my mom knew it existed, she'd have sent me there already to try and shy me out of buying others orchids Thank god I don't live with her anymore, because then she'd know it's not just an impression when she thinks my collection got bigger all of a sudden

Life is short. I think you should go for what makes you happy. And we all know that the process of growing orchids and seeing their blooms makes us happy. heck, I'm happy to admire the pictures people post on the OB.
So Cody, enjoy your plants and don't forget to post pictures.
p.s. happy belated b-day.
