Cody and Help, there is hope for you two. I've met quite a few teens whose interests were not "mainstream". All the ones who stuck with their passions, became quite successful in their fields, and happier for it. As for orchid growing: we have quite a few here in Alberta, they're just not on line.

i plan on going to college for hort. or ornamental hort ( i dont care for the farming side of things) and minor/double major in photography

I'm actually quite impressed with teenagers that are knowledgeable. 
I'd rather see teenagers interested in horticulture than other things.....
