Default Corks and more corks

Have a really good supply of used wine bottle corks. Is anyone growing their orchids in cork chuncks? Do you think I could use these wine corks for orchids without detrimental effects. They are from red and white wines.

Good gas exchange with these no doubt!

Dave, always on the cutting edge in the hobby I know reptile supply places sell Portuguese bark in chunks or curled tubes... You could chunk it up yourself. Won't used wine corks start getting moldy in humid conditions ?

I use a mix of wine corks and large chunk charcoal for my baskets containing vandaceaous orchids as I grow in the Mid-atlantic and want to try to balance some increased humidity with good air movement. They do not seem to mind the wine corks at all and the roots often attach to them. And it is fun to collect the corks!
