Default How do I unite these colours?

In your opinion, how would YOU unite these colours? By that I mean which colours/shades would you use to blend them all into a palette of complimentary of hues? This is not an exercise with a hidden agenda to purchase more plants that would, in turn, lead to purchasing even more plants to unite the many hues already owned. It's not. Really. No, it isn't...

and this bunch of awful shades...

I understand your patience in this but there is only one more pic to suffer...I promise...

Of course if there are any colours that would be hideous, in your opinion, please do not hesitate to mention them in case I commit the ultimate faux pas in the collection of a rainbow.... ...I know I don't have much to work with, however, your input may be crucial in my rehabilitation.

Hmmm, I am not much of an artist, but I think the most simplest answer is to buy more 'chids!

Su'weet! I was hoping for immediate confirmation as to what to do. So, bravely stepping onwards, I shall commit my every fibre in my being to the pursuit of that chid rainbow. Someone must do it so I shall carry the mantle of responsibility no matter how trying it may be. I shall try to remain in contact.

Just saw this thread - if you really need to look for a common color to unite these plants, don't just concentrate on the flowers. After all, the plants will be out of bloom more than they will be in bloom, therefore...........GREEN! Yup - buy as many plants as you want, regardless of the color of the flowers. All their leaves will be shades of green!

Loving the previous responses.

The answer to a query like that can take on much in terms of response.
Best advice I could give is to have a look at colour wheels and look up what Artist and Photographers learn about.

There are such terms as Cold or Warm, Sharp or Soft, Contrast and Complimentary when refering to colours.

Here are two link which will give a better understanding of the relationships of colour on a whole,

Color Matters - Design and Art - Color Theory

Colour Theory

The principles are pretty basic.

My advice? It's all about personal taste. If your happy, then that's what matters. After all it's you that has to live with it! And an Orchid Rainbow sounds so cool!

(PS Like Florofan suggested, Green always works! )

Yes, I have a green catt on order and should be here shortly. Just going to have a look at the links you sent.

I had forgotten about the colour wheel! lol Anyhoo, I've made up my mind and I'm going for more than one green. I have a light yellow/green phal but I need a big green catt in there, the bigger the better.
