Talking Back From Briggs Hill

Just got back from Briggs Hill Orchids a couple of hours ago. My son went with me. We spent nearly 3 hours snooping around the greenhouse asking lots of questions. Helene is a peach and was so helpful, showing us plants that should be successful in our area, and how to help others along that might not do so well in lower humidity. I tried to purchase plants that I've not had any experience with before to kind of stretch my knowledge a little. Hope I can keep them happy.

Here's what I brought home:
Blc. Mem. Vida Lee 'Limelight' - lime green petals and a fushia lip.
Epi. Pak Girl x Pacific Embers in bloom - brilliant orange
Brassavola nodosa
and last but not least my first slipper
Paph. delenatii

My son bought:

Cymbidium - yellow/orange flower
Dendro. with hairy yellow flowers
and a Gongora (can't remember which one sorry) in spike. It has light brown flowers and is extremely fragrant. Kind of smells like cinnamon, nutmeg with a hint of citrus.

Ok here are my new kids on the block.

Photo 1 is the Epi. blooms. Photo 2 is the Blc. Photo 3 is Br. nodosa. Photo 4 is Odtcdm. Wildcat 'Carmela' purchased from Steven in Idaho. Photo 5 is single Wildcat flower. Photo 6 is Paph. delenatii. Photo 7 is Den. fimbriatum a keiki from my son's giant plant. Photo 8 is Epi. the whole plant. Photo 9 is the group.

I got a little more info on the plants my son got. He has Gongora escobariana, Den. finisterrae, and Cym. Autum King 'Super Baby'.

D, I meant to tell you I saw some Shombs there! They were gigantic! She had one in a pot that wasn't blooming and one mounted that was. The bloom was just beautiful.

It's a good thing for my wallet that I don't live close to a grower....although the internet kind of makes that point moot.

I went to J & L's sale this weekend with a list, and didn't buy a thing on it. But I didn't come home empty handed either.....
