They do this to fish. Dyed and tattooed. Have you you seen the tattooed fish. They say I love you. My fish and orchids tell me this without the need for injected dyes. Next up, orchids with jellyfish genes that glow in the dark.
oh.. poor little plants. Nature is already full of thousands and thousands of beautiful Orchids. And these blue ones have nothing on them!
... But unfortunately there are a lot of people who just want to make money and as long as there are those who buy they will continue producing these dyed orchids.
My neighbor who is a "non-orchid" person bought one at the local store because he thought it was really "neat" and said he doesn't care how it got to be blue but just likes the color.
Since he is a carpenter of sorts I told him that I would be buying some all laminent cabinets for my kitchen and would like him to rip out the wood ones because I thought it would be "prettier"....so he stopped talking about his blue orchid then
That's funny! When we were trying to sell our house, the real estate agent said that our beautiful oak cabinets were 'dated' We loved the wood look. We hate laminate, so I can see why that would shut him up. He was likely as discusted with you, as you were with him!

I'll agree with what Maria said - this is like a mockery of the orchid-growing hobby. Those dens look terrible! And wouldn't the dye interfere with their photosynthesis? I'd hate to be the poor sucker who bought them thinking that they're naturally purple.

Don't give them any ideas!!! The picture is a visual assault!
