I don't know if I should cry or smile for this blue phal Female
Default I don't know if I should cry or smile for this blue phal

My fiancee calls me from Home Depot and says I have a huge surprise for you, I bought you an orchid that you don't have in your collection
He never buys me orchids because he knows I have way to many but he is very proud of my hobby and always do all the projects with me around the orchids. So my first surprise was he is buying me an orchid? Second from HD?? They have very generic and common orchids that I wouldn't be interested in acquiring at this stage of my addiction So my curiosity was killing me to see what was the huge surprise

When I saw the plant I didn't know if I should smile or start crying
It was a dyed (I think) phal in blue oh well I thanked him tremendously for his gift, it's kind of cute but against of what I would like or look for a natural orchid.
Here are some pics, let me know what do you think?

definitely dyed. You'll find a hole, on the spike, where they inject it

But like they say, it's the thought that counts

i agree, its the thought that counts. you've got a nice hubby

it is dyed, at the bottom of the spike there should a be a whole where they injected it.

it should bloom white the next time around, maybe with a small tinge. but eventually it will be back to normal white

It is things like this that teach us a lesson, it is not the price or the type of orchid ( how rare ect ect. ) it is someone cared enough to make you happy ..

Saw same thing at the Home Depot in my neck of the woods. Thought for some reason that it was artificial..Go figure. Nice fiance BTW to have taken the time to buy you an orchid.

Ditto with the above comments. It's the thought that counts! It sounds like he thought he was getting you something really unique, and a classy white phal is always nice to have around come next year Nice blue if it was in the sky or on a nice snuggly sweater.

Aaaa! How sweet! I can understand that you felt like crying as I'm not a great fan myself of these dyed Phals.. But on the other hand at least you know that when he's walking about in HD you are the only one in his mind and heart! <3
plus from the pictures it seems like he picked a real nice healthy specimen with lots of blooms.

After couple of days the blue starts dissipating a little bit and it looks much better. He is really a sweet heart, definitely what impress me the most was the fact that he knew I didn't have it lol
Thanks for all your wonderful comments
