Well,
Let me be the devil's advocate here, but I think a lot of people encourage the mass production of orchids.
Lots of people here and on other message boards would rather buy 10 plants for 100 dollars than buy 4 plants for 100 dollars or 3 plants for a hundred dollars, and in the process support "real" orchid growers.
I'd rather spend my money on buying quality plants at slightly higher cost and from an orchid grower than these god-awful mericloned and diseased plants in big box stores.
So, although we come here and look at these in disgust, someone's got to be carrying that industry. I would never buy these plants, not only because they aren't healthy, but because I'd rather my $$ go to a person who dedicates themselves to producing a quality product.
Sure, I bought some at the beginning, but I'd never think of buying one now.
