cheapest non-free orchid
i know there was a thread like this going around not to long ago. and i tried to search for it and find it, but i cant. so im making a new one
please share about the cheapest non-free chids youve gotten.
i just got a mini phal for $0.50!!!! it was out of bloom and missing its cache pot. but for that reason, it still had okay roots, because it wasnt sitting in water! it used to have a name, but not any more. when they came in, they all had names. i only remember one of the names that was there- p. timothy christopher. once it blooms, if its white, i can be sure that what it is. as there were no other white mini phals, besides timothy christopher

50p... I got two at that price. Both out of flower and bought only with the intention of experimenting on for my first S/H tests. They've turned out to be real monster vigourous phals and are both in flower at the momment. They have grown like crazy and are pretty massive plants

I can also find dirt cheap noids like that (since I live in an mega orchid producing country). But for named plants and especially species I've gotten some beatiful and nice sized plants for as little as 3€.
Every year in October the national dutch orchid society organizes a show in which the vendors are primarily hobbists who dabble in selling orchids. The plants are healthy, usually blooming size and really cheap. I got my Podangis dactyloceras for 3€, my Aerangis rhodostica for 4€ for example. At that show I usually come back with 6-8 orchids, and spend less than 40€ total.

It's a good distinction Camille, the difference between a supermarket NoID they are just trying to offload, and a decent named plant.
My cheepest named orchid is probably my restrepias at about £8 each. They are tiny plants anyway, and £8 got me blooming size (as proved by the fact both have flowered within the year).
I think I also paid £8 for my Leptotes unicolour, another tiny plant (by the way Camille I'm thinking that might be growing a bit early to be sure though).

I have purchased some named seedlings for around $1 each. I have Timothy Christopher but paid $10 for it.

like i said, ill have to wait for it to bloom. but if its white, ill know what it is. i got it at a supermarket, so it wasnt a super healthy plant and stuff
i think the next cheapest for a "real" chid was like 5.58 or something. but i had to buy 12. they were for Blooming sized catts in 4" pots. it was that holiday package from carmela's super pleased with it by the way

Once at the clearance rack and Lowe's I got A brassavola nadosa and a slipper orchid (both in good condition) for $2 each.
