A visit to Kew Gardens - The Princess of Wales Conservatory

I wasn't sure where to put this, so I popped it in the Lounge.
Yesterday, I went on my first visit to Kew Gardens for a semi-surprise early-birthday present. Here are some pictures from their Tropical Display in the Princess of Wales Conservatory. The emphasis was clearly on stunning colour, and so if you like Oncs, Cyms, Dens, Phals and the occaisional Paph, you would've been in heaven! I've put a selection below, but I've put more in a separate OB album if you want to look at more (hopefully, I can figure out how to put the link into the post! and put on the extra ones I took with my phone). Unfortunately, my flash washed out a lot of colour, but hopefully you get the idea
and I envy your Dendrochilum pictures you've just put up! They had a lovely one at Kew which smelt incredible and I can't believe -after looking through my snaps- I didn't take a picture! Still, it lingers on the memory!
I loved visiting Kew a couple of years ago, it's a great place, your pictures make me think I need to visit again
I know I'd love to go again already, but next time when it's warm (not 3 degrees C and drizzling!). What amazed me was how much time you could spend in one place - we spent about an hour and three quaters in the PoW's Conservatory and still didn't see everything (in fact we only left because the two men folk pointed out it was past lunchtime!)
It was a cold Feb day when we went as well, really must visit in better weather.
My hubby was so patient with me while I was examining all the orchids, he enjoyed it really and was really interested in some of the other plants there especially suculents and cacti.

Yes, I think our two enjoyed it more than they thought they would (and mine did take loads of photos of the cacti and told me all about them as I didn't get that far!!). One of the aspects I really liked was the mounted plants (like Bulbos and Masdies) in the 'Palm house'. It's a shame none of them were in flower, but it gave a taste of reality
Yeah I saw the mounted ones in the palm house, but it looked like it was a new experiment for them when I was there, they were mostly phals on the sides of the palms and looked like they had only been there a month or so.
When I was at Eden last time I spotted a couple of bulbos growing down on a piece of wood by the river that flows through the tropical dome. It was quite a distance away and I had to use the camera zoom to confirm I had ID's it correctly (managed to pick up a tag with the camera), but I was really pleased to see they were trying to grow them that way.
