So unless I have an accident and loose my sense of smell or my circumstances change, I will not be getting any of the Stinky ones.
Smells like:
Candy floss any honey, yes!
Stinky feet and rotten meat, no!

Not a paph or phrag person at all they just don't appeal to me. Nor will I grow anything that I need a microscope to see the blooms. The bigger the flower the better. Don't do well with warm growers either.

Anything I can't afford to kill-
Anything too tiny- I tried one pleurothallis, and it bloomed but I didn't even notice until they were past. Too small for the trouble.
Anything really big- especially if the flowers are small- not worth the space.
Any more oncidiums. One Sharry Baby is enough.
Any more mounted plants- too hard to keep up with the watering without making a mess- I grow mainly in the living room. Although it has a tile floor the wood frame sliders get damaged by the drippings.
No vandas. Although they speak to me, I don't have the right growing conditions.
Anything that only stays in bloom for a few days once a year, or less.
And, last but not least, I will never buy another damn Psychopsis! I've had one for about 17 months, it keeps putting out it's ugly orange flowers and the leaves and pseudobulbs are just sitting there. It's my color-blind husbands favorite though, so I have to be nice to it. After all, he puts up with my hobby and even helps.

Collection question with a difference
First, it has to be able to put up with our very hot summers, so, no cool growers and even very few intermediates.
Next, I have to like it. I'm not too particular about the foliage. My plants spend the winter in the GH and the summer outside so the decorative aspects of foliage don't really come in to play.
Third, I'm not particularly interested, for some reason, in yellow flowers. Yes, I have a couple but I don't search for yellow flowers unless there is something different about them.
Fourth, no what I consider ugly or weird flowers.
Fifth, I need to be able to afford it. No $100+ plants for me.
Other than that, like Bob, Bev. see, Bev. like, Bev. buy.

I try to avoid orchids that are very sensitive to water quality (not that my water is bad, but it's not RO), need consistent cool or hot temps, aren't tolerant of cool temps in the winter, or need constant moisture, because most of those will die on me pretty quick. I'm a bit money-poor so I rarely spend over $20 on a plant. Finally, I tend to pass on most (though not all) Phals, Oncidium intergenerics, Phal-type Dens, and slippers, for a variety of reasons.
Other than that, I'll try just about anything that's affordable, looks or smells interesting, and I think I can reasonably accommodate...

I guess I'm still figuring out what I can and cannot grow. The layout of the windows in my house (with a conspicuous lack of any real southern exposure) mean that any real high-light orchids are out; this means you stupid, sexy vandas.
I know that my masdie says terrible things about me when I'm not around. I have such strong feelings for it... but alas, they are all unrequited. It would rather slowly wither away than bloom for me. I don't think I'd get another one until I've figured this one out... they really are amazing though.
I was unfriended on facebook by my Neo. We were best buds until I asked it to bloom. Leaves? Yes. Flowers? No.
I have to stick up for the micro minis - I have a few bulbos that I have to squint at and I love 'em. I've gotten one to bloom - crazy, tiny orange and white flowers... so cool. Don't knock 'em!

Anything that i can not afford to kill. If it is expensive - i am not getting it. I already feel bad if i kill one, I dont like feel bad for spending lots of money on it too.
I wouldnt buy hybrid Phals and Onc. Also I dont particularly like reed Epi. and cane Den for some reason.
I will take any mini or micro any time of the day
