I think Scheherezade is a heftier plant but still compact. What I mean it is slightly larger. But it does not seem to be as prolific as 'Dark Waters'. The flowers are larger(4.5" NS), rounder, and fuller. Its color a scarlet red and is a concolor with not much of a scent. This one puts out up to 5 flower per inflorescence for me. Blooms around Mother's Day.
Now for 'Dark Waters'. It breaks new leads effortlessly. The flowers are a dark red and up to 3.5" NS with a maximum of 4 flowers per inflorescence, 2s and 3s being more the norm. It has a spicy scent. For me it was always in bloom for Valentine's Day.
As my info says, I live east of Houston just north of I10. We had a thin coating of ice on everything this AM. As soon as the temp went up past 32, it all melted. I have stayed as close to the heater as possible today. BRRRR it is cold! The pictures on TV of the traffic jams should be enough to keep anyone with any sense at home. I was raised in MI but still have problems with the slippery skid stuff.
I need to go out to the GH before dark to say Hi to my plants.
Here's hoping for higher temps tomorrow.

Our snow is still here at 5 pm, even! I have gotten used to getting the "dusting" that usually melts off by ~9 am! It's supposed to get below freezing again, which means all the slush will be ice, soon. It's already started on the street...YIKES!
Ted, thanks for the info on the difference. Yep, mine typically has had 2 flowers per inflorescence. It's got a sweet, lemony smell and the red is reminiscent of...well....venous blood, or better yet, red velvet.
yikes! never good when it snows where people aren 't used to it, and probably a good idea to avoid driving
I believe I read several times late last year that we were to have La Nina - but since the west coast isn't having the crazy weather, I expect the weather in Texas is not coming from the Pacific

It is La Nina.
But yeah, we are having fantastic weather out here on the west coast! Going to hit the mid-seventies today. A lot of my 'chids are going outside to enjoy the fresh air.

Okay, I just have to chime in here, being from New England. You guys have it easy.
This is a super snowy winter here in the Northeast, so it's only fair of us to share some of it with you.
Stay warm. LOL
