Default My New Chids

Our OS had Francisco Miranda from Miranda Orchids visiting to give a presentation on the Laelias of Brazil. WOW! It was great.

I made a pre-order to save on shipping and to get a discount.

Here are my new chids. (Links go to the site with expected bloom photo).

Cattleya chocoensis (semialba x 'D. Zoraide')

Orchids of Brazil. Price List

A flower with white segments and a hint of color on the lip was outcrossed with one with a very intensely-colored lip throat. We are expecting flowers with intense color inside the lip but not much color elsewhere, likely similar to the one pictured but darker.

Cattleya luteola x sib select

The smallest of the unifoliate cattleyas. It comes from the Amazon lowlands, so it is a warm grower. In this case, a couple of plants with excellent flowers were used to produce more high-quality luteolas.

Laelia alaorii x sib select

Orchids of Brazil. Price List

Two good quality light colored alaoriis we sibbed here to produce more of these typical colored ones.

Laelia milleri x sib select

One of the nicest rupiculous Laelia species, and the one to produce almost always very intense red flowers. The species is also almost extinct in the wild. Two very bright red flowered plants were outcrossed to repeat color. Flowers are about 2" across.

Yay! I love new chids. I've been holding back from ebay so that I could get these select plants.
