I confess I am an orchid killer .
If they are not doing well and are not healthy looking they go to orchid heaven .
If they look good but won't bloom I give them away, as others said different conditions can work .
I have a picture of a Phrag. Grande in bloom on the board it was a sad little thing when given to me it took a long time to grow and bloom but it was basically healthy ,trying to grow , guess it just depends ..

I had to start culling last year as I am completely out of room, and it takes too long to water on the weekends. I first try and sell them. If they don't sell I give them away to friends. (That's a good way to create new orchid addicts!) If it's not doing well I'll sometimes toss it if it isn't something special. I haven't purchased any orchids since August.

I know how you feel - I have Dgmra. Winter Wonderland WhiteFairy for three or more years now, I bought it as a seedling plant, repotted it but can't seem to give it the right conditions to get it to bloom. I'm trying pot bound, lots of feed but low N at the moment and as much light as nature can give, but I think it will have to go if it doesn't flower this year.

I'm in the same boat as help and WhiteRabbit, I hate trashing the ones I paid for. This spring we ought to have a "crap plant trade"

I even have some decent looking ones I can't get to bloom but are on my "I really don't like you and I don't care if you live" list. They may turn into stagnant wrinkly pretty soon!
