I'd be sure the neighbors knew to watch the house., and any strange cars in the driveway. So sorry!
Ugh...

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this is not useful here either...

The police are not going to do a damn thing here about someone robbing some houseplants.

If the neighbors are anyone in the film and television industry, most of them aren't even really home. Cast and crew, including extras, work on average of anywhere between 10 to 18 hr workdays, give or take 4 hrs. We work our tails off to bring America and the world fantasies they can escape to.

I'm just going to offer up my condolences and maybe offer one of my divisions of a Cymbidium you or your grandma may like, for free, if you're interested.

Like it or not, that's life in a big city. Unless you've had your own knocks here, I'm gonna sound like a downer.

I've had my house robbed in an affluent neighborhood here in Los Angeles County. The police came in, wrote a report, and went home. Nothing got returned. Valuables such as jewelry were involved. That was about 15 yrs ago.

Hollywood is not what you see on tv. You've gotta be there to know what I'm talking about.

This place is gigantic! Los Angeles County is a massive conglomerate of several small interconnected cities that are smack next to each other. There are a total of possibly more than 20 cities here in Los Angeles County alone! Our neighboring counties make Southern California a huge empire.

We're literally very close neighbors to Orange County, San Bernardino County, and Ventura County (each of the listed counties bleed right into the next)! A lot of people from all these counties go in and out from our respective counties daily!

All these counties combined with LA County makes this place feel enormous!

I've met people who were originally from another state say how different it is here compared to some of the cities they were from.

The population here in LA County for 2009 according to the US Census Bureau:

Philip, people are trying to be comforting and also helpful by suggesting things and then you make one very pessimistic post after another. Yes, the chances are more than extremely slim that the plants will be recovered (o matter what the city) but if I was in this situation I think that I would somewhat comforted to know that I had done everything I could to try to find them. It certainly doesn't hurt to try!

No, it doesn't hurt to try.

I don't have a problem with comfort.

It doesn't sound like you love where you live. I don't think I would either.

I have not lived there, but have visited. Yes, it is a huge city, but huge cities are made up of smaller communities. Sometimes within those small communities solutions can be found by neighbors helping neighbors. The police cannot do it all by themselves.

Camille, you are so right. We are all trying to offer comfort and hope in a probably hopeless situation. You never know though, stranger things have happened.

This response is, imo, an accurate statement.

No, they cannot. There are bigger fish to fry.

The city that I specifically live in is fine.

Of all the times I've been to Hollywood, it has not been easy.
