That makes sense. I doubt that it would be kids, though. It sounds like someone who knows they are orchids.
|
what jerks .....and as if just stealing the plants was not bad enough but from a old woman at that.
|
Well, if not kids they may accidentally have an attack of conscience?
|
How sad:( Many of folks have legacy plants that have been passed down. I have a basket of Bc. Lindleyana that has been passed down from my Grandfather. It has been in my family over 50 years and would consider it close to the end of the world if were stolen.

If there is a local paper like what was called the green sheet I would put an ad in it and anywhere else that you can . Also contact the orchid clubs in your area .
I read quite awhile back about the same thing and it was kids that did it .. don't give up without a fight .. |
Be sure to report it, as the house may be next. It could be someone who knows your grandmother and knew that she couldn't take care of them any longer.
I'd be sure the neighbors knew to watch the house., and any strange cars in the driveway. So sorry! |
So sorry to hear about the theft. I would be fuming. I think it's a good idea as suggested above to put an ad in the local paper if there is one. Word travels, and anyone in an orchid circle suddenly with that many new cymbidiums would stand out. Also, the advice about speaking to the neighbours and others on the block. You never know what can result by putting the word out. Also I would check the for sale ads, as someone may now try and sell them.

That sucks.
If it makes any difference... Hollywood's not the nicest city to be living in here in LA, imo. It only looks glamorous on tv. Knowing how Hollywood is, especially if your grandma is located up in the hills, they REALLY went out of their way to get the Cymbidiums. |
Quote:
It's a small busy city filled mostly with actors, film makers, musicians, and artists, with a few other people from other professions sprinkled in. They're too busy worrying about themselves and how they're gonna make it. Then add the myriad of tourists from all over the country and all over the world. On top of that, take into consideration all the people who go there to party who are mostly from the neighboring cities with a few who are from the other more obscure cities in Los Angeles County. It's Las Vegas' twin, without the casinos. Most people wouldn't even know what the hell a Cymbidium is, let alone ID them. They're gone. There's no getting them back unless by a miracle of chance, someone hands them back. The odds are very, very low. |
Well aren't you just a ray of sunshine, Phillip
