Default Going to Taipei Taiwan need info

I hope this is in the right thread.

I'm going to Taipei Taiwan in March and would like some info on were to go to see orchids.

I'm just a hobby grower, is it possible to bring back orchids legally? If so what do I need to do.

I will take lots of pictures of orchids if I can find them. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

If you have been there what sights should I see.

Hi

If you bring back flasks, as far as I know you can bring in up to 12 flask without an import permit, but not more. You need a phytosanitary certificate from the nursery selling them to you. If more than 12, also an import cert from USDA/APHIS

PLants you wil need an import cert from the USA and phyto cert from country of origin..

Call APHIS/USDA to get more accurate information on bring plants back.

I am in Thailand, but send to my friends the USA, plants and flasks, and thats all send with them.

Brett

If you're talking about orchids from the wild, please only bring back seeds or mature seed pods and send them to a lab asap, with the identification of the plant, or at least with detailed climatic conditions (preferably including the general region of origin - for example: Ari San would be a specific region) and a photo of the plant in-situ. It is preferred to know whether the plant in which you are obtaining the seeds or seed pod from is not super rare in that area. If that's the only plant of that species you can spot in that area with seed pods, then my recommendation is to leave it alone.

You might wanna check if it's okay with the Taiwanese government by asking around. I most likely believe that they'll say, "Sure, whatever."

King of orchid growing
I was looking for places to see them in the wild, I'm not interested in bringing back wild seeds as I'm not experienced in growing from seed and do not want to take from the wild something that I can not grow and keep alive.

Thank you for the information. I'm not sure about growing from flask's, I have tried twice and all but one plant died, the one that is still alive is just holding on.
Do you know of any growers that I could visit and bring back pictures that is near Taipei?
