Where there's a will, there's a way. Did you know glass cutters can drill large holes in glass? All you'd need is one 3/8" hole in top, 'cause Mist King makes a multi-head. Just a thought. Hauling the completed tank to glass cutter might be a real problem, esp in City. Are there glass folks who make house calls?

Did some checking in google and found following sites:

Glass Drill Bits
http://www.technologylk.com/products...FRE8gQodKRj5KA

and tons of others. After reading the article you posted on construction and after seeing what you've done so far, I'd recommend trying it. Just place some masking tape on inside of vivarium to catch glass bits and grind slowly. I think it's really worth the experiment. If it breaks, though, I didn't do it!

Here's what mine looked like in bloom last year...

The blooms last a long time, too

Mine has one spike preparing to start the show. It takes a while for all the little nubs to become buds but when they do, it's wonderful

UPDATE: 6/1/07

Fed Ex arrived with a very large box today

All the plants made it just fine. Once I get them fertilized and into their new home (I rarely have to do any special "treatment" such as fungicide or insecticide with Andy's stuff) I checked them over carefully.

Ascocentrum (Dykia) hendersonianium - in double spike with little 'nubbins' buds al over the spikes. I'm gonna like this guy 'cause he likes lots of water, lots of humidity and warmth - all of which I have in abundance in the orchidarium.

Pleurothallis tribuloides - covered with little red buds. It, too, should love its new home.

The other 8 'chids are VERY healthy specimens, some on very large "sticks"

Pics when the blooms come about, of course.

Susanne, mine is mounted on a very large piece of Manzanita stem and has roots hanging down at least 6" below the wood as well as several new roots with nice green tips.

What a nice way to spend the afternoon

I was bored today and started inspecting the 'chids...repotted a few, changed a few mountings that I wasn't happy with and decided to mount the Tblm kotoense
