Mine is the name of the sweet cat you see in my avatar. She is a very special member of our household and has been with us for about 9 years. I figured it would be easy to remember and usually not chosen by someone else!

I spotted the meaning of yours a few months back, but it wasn't obvious to me... but then on this side of the world perhaps I'm less used to the abreviations for places

He is one of the 9 black riders that try to catch Frodo in the movies and books. Actually I had intended to play a little joke on the lotr yahoo group and have multiple sign ons each with the name of one of the nine riders. So my original orchid board name was Tindomul1of9. I am also known as Khamul1of9 or just Khamul in other boards. I never got to use the other 7 names. So um, thats where my name comes from. It goes with the avatar and the font I use on orchid board.

Now how come I've read LOTR so many many many many times and never registered the name. I thought I knew it really well, but obviously not I've only read half of 'The Silmarilian' though, I'm afraid I got a bit bogged down with that one.
I would have recognized the quote in your footer even without the reference though. That's an easy one!

Mine comes from the name of the cottage and land I own. When I moved back to Maine after 10 years in Corpus Christi, TX I purchased an old cottage in need of a LOT of tlc.
I bought the house in May and while standing under one of it's 100 year old apple trees wondering where to start to make the place livable, listening to the birds in full spring time courting behavior, the name Bird Song Farm came to mind and it stuck. I have very little imagination with nicknames (never had one myself) so I started using BSF for everything. Now, in this small town, all anyone has to do is ask "where is Bird Song Farm" and they can direct you with no problem. Sorry for the long winded explanation!!

I got mine because I am such a "ray of sunshine" to everyone around me!
Believe that one, and I've got this bridge I'd like to sell you...

Mine was a nickname I got from my old Civil War reenactment days in the 93rd PVI. We had three Jim's in the unit and since I lived in Delaware at the time I became "Delaware Jim".
Cheers.

I think the name is mentioned once in lost tales or unfinished tales or something like that. I actually found the name on a website that listed all the names of the 9 riders.
As for the quote, I thought it was an appropriate quote for a plant forum (deep roots are not reached by the frost) even though its meaning really has nothing to do with plant.
