Well - I didn't see any of you folks at the meeting (at least I don't think I did, there were enough suspenders, glasses and funny mustaches to disguise a small army) - but the meeting went great!
MOS (Massachusetts Orchid Society) is a really interesting group. There was a judging table, some ribbons were awarded and some interesting discussions on the awarded plants' culture ensued. There was some Q&A with the MOS "orchid doctor" and then there was a raffle - they have a long-standing tradition that new members get their pick of the raffle table, so this new member walked away with a free phal. Woohoo.
The meeting was capped off by a lecture from the guest speaker - who is the man in charge of Harvard's herbarium which has a tremendous catalog of dried orchids. He talked about his adventures identifying and collecting orchids in a recent trip to Venezuela. The photos in his power point slide were AMAZING!
It seems like a great group and I look forward to upcoming meetings.
