I spotted it last night and at first thought it was another crinkly leaf all tangled up in the old leaves, but closer inspection revealed that it is indeed a spike! It's still only small and, like the rest of the plant, is a little mis-shapen - but I think I will love it all the more for its flaws.
This is the plant that brought me to orchid board looking for advice and encouragement. So now I'm getting my thanks and passing it on to all you good people!
