My advice with tattoos is to be sure that your "canvas" won't be stretching too much with time (shoulder sounds good for that!). The other thing is to protect it from the sun (especially if you freckle!)
I think that your choice to do a species rather than a hybrid is an excellent one, and the drawing looks both accurate and simple enough to be effective.

I agree completely with Duane. I would never get something on my stomach, as I am female and wanting kids. But I do like what you chose. With the right amount of color and shading I'm sure you'll be happy with it! Good luck and don't forget to post pics!!!
